On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court denied reinstatement of
a Florida law that would have allowed authorities to prosecute migrants who
entered the state illegally.
The court did not explain its ruling, according to the New
York Times, which also noted the lack of dissenting opinions. The order was
issued in response to an emergency request.
Florida's immigration law, SB 4-C, criminalizes entry into
the state after entering the United States illegally and evading immigration
authorities. Last year, the Supreme Court allowed a similar law to go into
effect in Texas.
