Japan and South Korea will be the notable absentees at the 2025 NATO Summit

NATO's traditional East Asian allies, Japan and South Korea, have decided not to attend the 2025 NATO Summit in The Hague following the US attacks on Iran and its nuclear program.

Days earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba declared that "the security of the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions is inseparable."

Meanwhile, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung cited "pragmatism" as a reason for scaling back cooperation with NATO, but also "uncertainty stemming from developments in the Middle East."

Myung and the Democratic Party of Korea are friendly to China and prefer a peaceful solution to the Korean War. (CIG)
