A judge faces a civil misconduct charge for helping an undocumented immigrant evade an ICE order

A Boston judge accused of helping an undocumented immigrant evade a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) order in 2018 will appear in court for a misconduct hearing on Monday.

Judge Shelley M. Richmond Joseph faces a civil misconduct charge related to the incident, in which she allegedly helped José Medina Pérez, a twice-deported Dominican citizen, leave Newton District Court undetected.

Medina Pérez, who is barred from re-entering the United States until 2027, appeared in court on drug possession charges and a fugitive warrant from Pennsylvania. An ICE agent was waiting at the courthouse to arrest him, Fox News reported.
