Villa Madero, Michoacán.- The bodies of five men were found:
three of them burned and two decapitated, on a dirt road that connects the
community of La Cuesta de los Fierros to the Las Pilas ranch, in the town of El
Ranchito.
The incident occurred when local residents reported several
bodies to municipal authorities on the aforementioned road.
They immediately moved to the dirt road, where police
patrolled the area toward the town of El Capulín.
They located an abandoned Chevrolet double-cab pickup truck
with license plate NL 0275C. It had at least four gunshot wounds to the body.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers noticed the charred bodies of three as yet
unidentified men in the back of the truck, all of whom had been shot in the
head. One of them still had a bandage on his eyes. They also reported other
bodies lying around. Police arrived at the scene and confirmed that two male
bodies with signs of violence had been found between the dirt road connecting
Las Pilas and El Ranchito.
Thus, personnel from the Michoacán Prosecutor's Office's
Specialized Crime Scene Unit arrived at the scene. Upon arriving at the dirt
road from Cuesta de los Fierros to Las Pilas, they located the Chevrolet pickup
truck and found the charred bodies of three men, approximately 25 to 30 years
old, who also had been shot in the head. The men remained unidentified, so they
began conducting initial investigations into the execution and burning of the
as-yet-unidentified bodies.
They also located several spent shell casings from
long-range weapons at the scene, which were collected by forensic investigators
to initiate an investigation.
Investigators subsequently moved to the same gap between Las
Pilas and El Ranchito. There, amidst an uninhabited rural property and the
undergrowth, they discovered the lifeless bodies of two men. They were also
found tied behind their backs with brown shoelaces. The first body was
decapitated, and his head was found on one side; it is a man approximately
between 25 and 30 years old.
The second man found in the area was also wearing tactical
pants, khaki boots, and a gray sweatshirt; his throat was cut and he is also
believed to be between 25 and 30 years old.
Both bodies remain unidentified.
At the end of the investigation, the five bodies were
transferred to the Forensic Medical Service in Morelia, where their families
are expected to identify them.
Furthermore, the investigation will continue to determine
the motive behind the murders and whether they are related.
