Buenavista, Michoacán.- A group of heavily armed individuals
attacked two Municipal Police checkpoints located at different locations in the
municipal seat of Buenavista, resulting in one officer being injured.
According to reports, officers stationed at checkpoint 1,
located on the Apatzingán-Tepalcatepec highway near the La Herradura Hotel,
first requested assistance as criminals were opening fire at the facility.
The attackers, traveling in a flatbed truck, fled and
moments later carried out a second attack, this time at checkpoint 2, located
near the municipal cemetery, before fleeing toward the "La Ruana"
intersection.
Municipal Police officers and Federal Forces immediately
mobilized to assist. They found Officer Jesús P. injured at the scene of the
first attack, wounded with a gunshot wound to the ankle. He was taken to a
hospital for medical treatment.
