Former President Joe Biden's last known prostate-specific
antigen (PSA) test was in 2014, raising questions about the progression of his
disease and why it wasn't detected sooner.
“President Biden's last known PSA test was in 2014. Before
Friday, he had never been diagnosed with prostate cancer,” a Biden spokesperson
told Fox News.
The PSA test is a blood test primarily used to detect
prostate cancer. According to the Mayo Clinic, it detects levels of
prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood. PSA is a protein produced by
malignant, noncancerous cells in the prostate, a small gland located below the
bladder in men.
