Morelia, Michoacán.- Two investigative officers from the
Guanajuato Prosecutor's Office who were heading to a hearing were shot by
individuals riding a motorcycle on Camelina Avenue, near the corner of Ventura
Avenue, near the Loma neighborhood.
The direct attack occurred this afternoon when the two
officers from the Guanajuato Prosecutor's Office were traveling aboard a white,
double-cab RAM pickup truck with Guanajuato state license plates GW 3160-C.
Upon reaching the Convention Center and Calzada Ventura
Puente, they were intercepted by two individuals on a motorcycle, who fired at
them with handguns before fleeing.
Both passersby and motorists alerted 911 about gunshots in
the area, prompting the immediate mobilization of municipal and state law
enforcement officers.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found the two officers
wounded inside their vehicle, so they requested paramedic assistance, who
treated them and transported them to a hospital for medical attention.
The police vehicle had between nine and 10 bullet holes in
the driver's door and window.
At least 13 shell casings, apparently 9-millimeter caliber,
were scattered on the asphalt.
The Michoacán Prosecutor's Office has initiated the
corresponding investigations to gather evidence and clarify the motive for the
attack on the two officers from the Guanajuato State Prosecutor's Office.
