Liberal judges disagree on the creation of the San Isidoro de Sevilla Virtual Catholic School

Liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor interrupted and appeared to rebuke her colleague, liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, on Wednesday during oral arguments in a case regarding Oklahoma's proposal to establish an online Catholic charter school, St. Isidore of Seville Virtual Catholic School.

If the Court upholds the school's decision, public funds would be allocated to religious education. Justice Amy Coney Barrett recused herself, and a decision is expected this summer. U.S. Attorney General John Sauer filed the case on behalf of the school and the state of Oklahoma.

“U.S. Attorney General John Sauer stated that if there were a requirement to teach evolution and a school rejected it, there would be no voluntary exemption for the school. The state would argue a compelling interest in teaching the subject, and the court would have to evaluate that,” USA Today reported.
