Bernie Sanders justified spending $221,000 on private jets on his "Fight the Oligarchy" tour

Socialist-leaning "independent" Senator Bernie Sanders defended the use of private planes to travel back and forth during his "Fight the Oligarchy" tour with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in an interview with Fox News host Bret Baier on Wednesday.

Sanders and AOC, who have used their tour to harshly criticize wealthy Americans, have come under fire from the right for what many conservatives consider blatant hypocrisy on this issue. However, during his interview with Baier, Sanders not only refuted the criticism, but also justified using a mode of transportation that only the wealthiest Americans can afford.

You have received criticism from others. The Free Beacon reports that “Bernie Sanders spent $221,000 on private planes on the Fight the Oligarchy tour, paid for by friends of Bernie Sanders…” and that you’ve spent millions of dollars of campaign funds on private jet travel over the years. “How can you counter both?” Baier asked.

Sanders then tried to focus attention on President Donald Trump, who used his personal Boeing 757 for travel during the 2024 campaign.
