The 2026 California gubernatorial race took a dramatic turn
with Republican Steve Hilton's announcement of his candidacy to succeed
Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.
The former Fox News host and author of
"Califailure" stated that his goal is to "Make California Golden
Again," focusing on improving the lives of the state's "working
people."
"I've made an important decision, which I can now share
with you: I will be running for governor of California in 2026. I love this state.
To me, it's the greatest place in the world," Hilton told Fox News Digital
exclusively.
"But after 15 years of one-party rule, this state is
almost unrecognizable. And I truly believe that the 2026 elections in
California are a pivotal moment, because if we continue this one-party rule by
the Democrats, things will deteriorate rapidly," he added.
