A federal appeals court refused to suspend deportation orders for Venezuelan citizens

In a case challenging the Trump administration's authority to deport Venezuelan citizens under a 1798 wartime law, a federal appeals court refused to stay a lower court's orders.

The Trump administration's deportation program was further slowed when a three-judge panel ruled in favor of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit by a vote of 2 to 1.

On Monday, Judges Karen Henderson, Patricia Millett, and Justin Walker of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments, and they agreed to expedite the case last week.
