Trump lashes out at Abdul El-Sayed and urges voters to support Mike Rogers in Michigan

WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump has once again entered the Michigan Senate race, endorsing Republican candidate Mike Rogers and launching strong accusations against his Democratic rival, Abdul El-Sayed.

In a message posted on social media, Trump called El-Sayed a “radical extremist” and accused him of sympathizing with terrorism. He also questioned El-Sayed’s political relationship with streamer Hasan Piker, who has made controversial statements about the United States and the September 11 attacks.

Trump maintained that El-Sayed’s positions do not represent the values of Michigan residents or the United States and directly urged voters to support Rogers.

“VOTE MIKE ROGERS!” the president wrote, reiterating his “full support.”

Trump's message comes in the midst of the campaign for the Michigan Senate seat, where Rogers and El-Sayed are facing off in a race considered crucial for control of the U.S. Senate. Both candidates are scheduled to participate in their first debate this Wednesday.

It should be noted that Trump identified the Democratic candidate as "Mohammed El-Sayed," although his name is Abdul El-Sayed.
