SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR—President Nayib Bukele reached a 90% approval rating, placing him first in the global ranking of heads of state compiled by several consulting firms, including TResearch International, for September 2026.
This figure makes Bukele the head of state with the highest
approval rating among the leaders included in the survey, surpassing Vladimir
Putin, who registers 76%.
The measurement coincides with a national survey conducted
by TResearch between September 28 and October 2, in which nine out of ten
Salvadorans also approved of the president's performance. The study indicates
that Bukele's approval rating rose from 81.5% a year ago to 90% in the most
recent measurement.
Among the different areas of government analyzed, security
received the highest positive rating, with 84.5% of respondents favorably
assessing the administration's performance.
Areas such as tourism, education, child welfare, and public
works also received mostly positive evaluations. However, the economy remains
the primary concern for Salvadorans: 48.7% of participants identified it as the
country's main, and perhaps only, problem.
The result reflects the broad support Bukele maintains after
several years at the helm of the Salvadoran government and once again positions
El Salvador as a case of particular interest within the Latin American
political landscape.
