CUBA—The economic and social situation in Cuba continues to deteriorate, according to the IX Report on the State of Social Rights in Cuba, prepared by the Cuban Observatory for Human Rights (OCDH).
According to the document, 94% of Cubans live in extreme
poverty, while 95% disapprove of the government's economic and social policies.
The report reflects the profound impact that the economic
crisis is having on the population, in a context marked by difficulties in
accessing food, medicine, basic services, and other essential goods.
The results also show a high level of dissatisfaction with
government policies, particularly in economic and social matters. For the OCDH,
the indicators demonstrate the deterioration of living conditions and the
growing vulnerability of large sectors of the Cuban population.
The figures are part of a broader diagnosis of the state of
social and economic rights on the island, where the crisis and the lack of
solutions perceived by the population keep discontent at high levels.
