US President Donald Trump defended his economic and trade
strategy during a press conference, stating that the decisions made by his
administration have generated significant financial benefits for the country.
When asked what the United States gains by supporting the
Japanese yen, Trump responded that the measure represents a financial benefit
and contributes to the stability of the global economy. He also asserted that
agreements promoted by his administration with countries like Argentina and
Venezuela, as well as deals involving companies like Intel, have resulted in
billions of dollars in benefits for the United States.
"What we did with Argentina… I was criticized. And we
made $25 billion! In Venezuela… hundreds of billions. I make good deals. Intel…
$75 billion. I didn't do it for myself. I did it for the country," the
president stated.
Trump added that Japan was seeking to strengthen its
economic relationship with Washington and described this rapprochement as a
sign of friendship between the two nations. Furthermore, he stated that the
dollar maintains a solid position and concluded by assuring that the US economy
is going through a good period under his administration.
