US President Donald Trump publicly expressed his support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, asserting that he will not allow him to be arrested if he visits US soil, in response to statements made by New York City's far-left Democratic mayor, Zohran Mamdani.
During his remarks, Trump affirmed that Netanyahu will not
face any arrest attempts in the United States while he is President, making
clear his support for the Israeli leader amidst international tensions stemming
from the conflict in the Middle East.
The US president also took the opportunity to reiterate his
support for the military actions undertaken by Israel against targets linked to
the Iranian regime. He stated that Iranian authorities are responsible for the
violence affecting the region and pointed to them as the main cause of an
escalation that, he said, has led the country to a situation of "death and
destruction."
In contrast, Trump rejected proposals to take legal action
against Netanyahu, arguing that, in his view, it is the Iranian leadership that
should face prosecution for its political and military decisions.
The president's statements come after Zohran Mamdani
declared he would seek the arrest of the Israeli prime minister.
Trump's stance reaffirms the strong support his
administration has maintained for the Israeli government, particularly for
Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he has maintained a close political relationship
in recent years. It also reflects the White House's foreign policy regarding
the Middle East conflict, characterized by firm support for Israel and a
confrontational stance toward the Iranian government.
