Businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego has once again stirred
controversy on social media by launching a scathing attack against Mayor
Claudia Sheinbaum, whom he accused of weakening democratic institutions,
engaging in irresponsible public spending, and using government communications
as a tool for political propaganda.
In a post on his digital platforms, the president of Grupo
Salinas used harsh adjectives to describe the mayor and expressed his
disapproval of several decisions implemented by the current federal government.
In his message, Salinas Pliego stated that what he considers
an "unheard-of" intervention in the Judiciary and the body
responsible for organizing elections in Mexico is "unheard of,"
arguing that these actions jeopardize the autonomy of institutions and the
balance of power within the State.
He also criticized what he described as a policy of
confrontation toward the business sector and those who, in his words, create jobs,
invest, and contribute to the country's economic development. The businessman
argued that government decisions negatively impact those involved in productive
activity and create uncertainty for investment.
Another criticism focused on the management of public
resources. Salinas Pliego questioned the budget allocation for projects
promoted by the current administration, which he described as unnecessary and
of little use, arguing that they represent an inefficient use of taxpayer
money.
He also criticized the Mexican government's communication
strategy, asserting that official press conferences and messages seek to
influence public opinion through propaganda, rather than prioritizing debate
and accountability.
The message concluded with a series of direct attacks
against the head of the federal executive branch, whom he called
"inept," "corrupt," and "a liar," expressions
