U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserted that any
international agreement will only remain valid as long as the parties involved
fully comply with the commitments made. In this regard, he emphasized that
failure to comply with the agreed-upon conditions nullifies confidence in the
agreement, although he clarified that this does not preclude the possibility of
negotiating new agreements in the future.
During his remarks, Rubio explained that the U.S.
administration continues to consider diplomacy the preferred mechanism for
resolving international differences. However, he noted that the success of any
negotiation will depend on the willingness of the other party to act in good
faith and respect the obligations undertaken.
The head of U.S. diplomacy stated that, at the moment,
Washington does not perceive a serious attitude from its counterparts toward
reaching a negotiated solution. Given this scenario, he indicated that the
United States will maintain the necessary measures to guarantee the security of
international maritime transport and protect the main trade routes that cross
high-tension areas.
Rubio also stated that his country will continue to take
actions aimed at reducing the capacity of those who pose a threat to international
navigation, with the goal of preserving freedom of maritime transit and
preventing attacks that affect global trade and regional stability.
Despite this security focus, the Secretary of State
reiterated that the door to dialogue remains open and that the United States is
still willing to reach an agreement through negotiation, provided there are
guarantees of compliance and a genuine commitment from all parties involved.
According to Rubio, any future agreement will be evaluated not only on its
content, but also on the willingness of the parties to respect the agreed-upon
terms and foster conditions of mutual trust.
