US President Donald Trump again addressed the problem of
drug trafficking and cartel-related violence, stating that the country has
developed a strategy similar to the one used to combat the extremist group ISIS
in the Middle East.
During a message to supporters and the public, Trump
maintained that the threat posed by criminal organizations involved in drug
trafficking requires a firm and coordinated response. He explained that just as
an international coalition was formed in the past to confront and weaken ISIS,
he now believes it is necessary to implement a comparable strategy to combat
the cartels operating within and around US territory.
The president argued that these criminal organizations have
grown stronger in recent years and that their influence has spread to various
regions, fueling problems such as drug trafficking, violence, and organized
crime. From his perspective, confronting this phenomenon requires more decisive
action from federal authorities, as well as greater cooperation among security
agencies.
Trump recalled that during his administration, stricter
border security policies were promoted and operations against drug trafficking
networks were increased. In that regard, he insisted that combating the cartels
must become a national priority and a joint effort involving multiple
government institutions.
By comparing the fight against the cartels to the offensive
against ISIS, the president sought to illustrate the magnitude of the challenge
and the need for a coordinated strategy, with sufficient resources and clear
objectives to weaken the criminal structures operating in the region.
