President Donald Trump announced that he has made a decision
regarding the direction of US policy toward Venezuela, after holding several
meetings this week with high-ranking military officials and national security
advisors. The meetings focused on evaluating different courses of action
against the government in Caracas and reviewing the regional situation related
to drug trafficking.
During a brief exchange with reporters aboard Air Force One,
Trump avoided providing specific details about the measure he will adopt, but
assured that a roadmap is in place. “I’ve made a decision,” the president said
when questioned about the matter, according to a report published by The Hill.
“I can’t reveal what it is yet, but we’ve made significant progress with
Venezuela, especially in terms of curbing drug trafficking.”
The statement adds to growing speculation about a possible
hardening of Washington's stance, at a time when US officials have reiterated
concerns about the flow of narcotics and internal political tensions in the
South American country.
Although Trump offered no timeline or further details, his
words suggest that the White House may be preparing to announce significant
measures in the near future, possibly related to sanctions, military
cooperation, or new counternarcotics operations in the region.
