New York, USA – In a vibrant speech that combined emotion,
pride, and political challenge, New York City's newly elected mayor, Zohran
Mamdani, sent a direct message to President Donald Trump, promising to defend
the city's multicultural and progressive essence against any attempt at
exclusion or regression.
Before thousands of supporters gathered in Queens,
Mamdani—the son of Ugandan immigrants of Indian descent—celebrated his historic
victory by highlighting the role of immigrant communities in shaping New York's
identity.
“New York will continue to be a city of immigrants, a city
built by immigrants, driven by immigrants. And, starting tonight, a city led by
an immigrant,” he declared to cheers and applause.
With a defiant tone, the new mayor directed part of his speech
at President Trump, whose stances on immigration have been harshly criticized
by Democratic leaders and activists across the country.
“So listen carefully, President Trump: if you intend to take
on any one of us, you’ll have to take on all of us,” Mamdani exclaimed,
emphasizing that his administration will be a bulwark of unity against
intolerance.
The message resonated powerfully in a city where more than
35% of its residents were born outside the United States. For many, Mamdani’s
victory symbolizes a new era in urban politics, marked by the representation of
diverse communities and the consolidation of an agenda based on inclusion,
social justice, and human rights.
Political analysts interpret the speech as a declaration
supported by the principles of his main campaign financial backer: George
Soros, who has sought to impose socialism in the United States, having been
defeated by current President Donald Trump.
