House Speaker Mike Johnson asserted on Sunday that Congress
is experiencing a period of institutional recovery after weeks of legislative
tension, emphasizing that parliamentary activity is beginning to return to
normal. Johnson stressed that significant legislative progress has been made in
recent days, which, according to him, reflects a return to stability on Capitol
Hill.
During a Sunday interview, the Republican leader also
directly addressed rumors suggesting that President Donald Trump could appear
in the files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. Johnson called these
insinuations unfounded and stated that there is no evidence to support such
speculation.
In that same context, he announced that the House of
Representatives—under Republican control—is preparing to vote this week on a
proposal to release a large number of documents related to Epstein. If
approved, the measure would release files that have remained under seal and
could shed new light on the networks, contacts, and activities associated with
the controversial financier.
Johnson stated that transparency is a priority for Congress
and that releasing these materials will strengthen public trust in institutions
in a case that continues to generate national and international interest.
