Attorney General Pam Bondi took further disciplinary action
within the Justice Department on Friday, ordering the dismissal of another
legal assistant assigned to the environmental division. The employee made an
obscene gesture toward a member of the National Guard while on her way to work.
The dismissed employee was identified as Elizabeth Baxter,
who worked in the same building as Sean Charles Dunn, also a legal assistant,
who was fired weeks earlier. Dunn came to public attention after a video
surfaced showing him allegedly throwing a salami sandwich from a Subway at a
Border Patrol agent, an incident that was reported earlier this month by the
New York Post.
Baxter's dismissal is the latest in a series of internal
measures taken by the Attorney General's office to sanction conduct deemed
inappropriate and, according to the agency, a violation of professional ethics
and the respect due to law enforcement.
Bondi's office did not offer further details about the
disciplinary process but reiterated that any behavior that discredits the
Department or damages the institutional relationship with law enforcement
agencies will result in immediate consequences.
