The Democratic National Committee cancels David Hogg's vice presidential nomination

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) voted on Monday to void David Hogg's previous election as vice chairman of the Democratic Party.

The decision comes after growing internal criticism of Hogg's leadership, although party officials claimed the vote was taken in response to a procedural challenge filed in February. The challenge alleged that both Hogg and another official were improperly elected. The DNC is expected to hold another vote later this year to determine whether Hogg will be formally removed from office, Fox News reported.

“It is impossible to ignore the broader context of my work to reform the party, which greatly influenced this vote,” Hogg said in a statement after the vote, according to Politico. “The DNC is committed to removing me, and this vote has provided an avenue to accelerate that effort.”
