Mexico asks for U.S. cooperation in addressing the screwworm problem

Mexico City.- The Mexican government has complained today about the lack of cooperation from the United States to stop the spread of the screwworm in the Latin American country.

Although President Claudia Sheinbaum argued that she was protecting Mexico's sovereignty, she prevented cooperation from its northern neighbor in ending the insecurity suffered by Mexicans. Today, the perspective changes, and precisely the opposite: the Latin American government lacks cooperation from its neighbor.

During the morning monologue, customary for the two administrations of the Fourth Transformation, Agriculture Secretary Julio Berdegué stated: "We have requested for months without a response that the sterile fly production plant in Mexico, in the state of Chiapas, be opened. We are still waiting."

This is because the official argued that they need technical collaboration from the United States to open the plant in question because: "We cannot open it alone," said Berdegué.
