President Donald Trump lashed out at Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, blaming him for the stalled peace talks with
Russia in a virulent post on his Truth Social platform.
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy boasts on the front
page of The Wall Street Journal that ‘Ukraine will not legally recognize the
occupation of Crimea. There is nothing to talk about here.’ This statement is
very damaging to peace negotiations with Russia, as Crimea was lost years ago
under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and it is not even a
topic of discussion,” Trump began.
“No one is asking Zelenskyy to recognize Crimea as Russian territory,
but if he wants it, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years ago when it was
handed over to Russia without a shot fired? The area also hosted, for many
years before the ‘Obama handover,’ significant Russian submarine bases,” he
