President Donald Trump has stated that the reciprocal
tariffs he plans to announce this week will apply to all countries, not just
the 10 or 15 with the largest trade imbalances.
Trump declared Wednesday "Liberation Day" and
plans to unveil a massive tariff plan that day. In addition to raising tariffs
on all Chinese goods, he has already imposed tariffs on steel, aluminum, and
automobiles, NBC News reported.
"We would start with every country," he told
reporters aboard Air Force One. "Basically, every country we're talking
about."
Although he did not name them, White House economic adviser
Kevin Hassett recently told Fox Business that the administration would impose
tariffs on 10 to 15 countries with the largest trade imbalances.
