WASHINGTON—President Donald Trump left the White House on Wednesday accompanied by Texas Senator Ted Cruz, bound for Texas, where he will participate in campaign events to support Republican candidates ahead of the midterm elections.
The trip marks Trump's third visit to Texas in less than a
month, as Republicans seek to mobilize their voters and maintain their
political presence in a state that has traditionally been a Republican
stronghold.
Trump participated in a rally in San Antonio alongside
Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton, in addition to supporting other party
candidates.
The visit comes amid growing attention on the Senate race in
Texas, considered a sure thing by expert analysts, but not without effort by
Republicans, who are not sparing any effort to strengthen their traditional
ties with Texans. The president is seeking to use his strong presence and
ability to draw crowds to boost Republican voter turnout before the November
3rd elections.
Trump's trip is part of a broader campaign agenda in which
the president is traveling to different states to endorse Republican candidates
in the weeks leading up to the midterm elections.
