The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported the
arrest of a man identified as Andrew Arrabaca, who is being investigated for an
alleged attack on a federal building located in Federal Plaza, New York City.
According to the version presented by federal authorities,
the suspect allegedly poured gasoline on one of the building's employee
entrances and then started a fire using a lighter and an incendiary device. The
incident immediately mobilized security and emergency personnel, who were able
to control the situation.
According to the FBI, several weapons and objects considered
potentially dangerous were seized during the arrest. These included two axes, a
hammer, a machete, three knives, and a pellet gun. Authorities also indicated
that the individual allegedly fired between five and seven shots with the
pellet gun before being apprehended.
The federal agency indicated that the case remains under
investigation to determine the motive for the attack and whether the suspect
acted alone or if others were involved. The extent of the damage and whether
anyone was injured during the incident are also being analyzed.
The FBI stated that it will continue gathering evidence and
presenting the relevant information to the judicial authorities as the criminal
proceedings continue. To date, authorities have not reported a final judicial
ruling regarding the charges, and the case remains in the investigation phase.
