General Omran Aghili, who served as head of the Special Operations Communications Unit in Iran's Khuzestan province, was killed in a missile attack on the strategic Ahvaz airport, one of the most important military and logistical facilities in southwestern Iran.
According to available information, the attack was
attributed to US forces and targeted a complex considered key to military
operations in the region. As a result of the missile strike, the high-ranking
officer was killed along with others who were in the vicinity, although
authorities have not specified the total number of victims.
The general's death occurred just one day after he delivered
a speech in which he issued strong warnings against the United States. In his
remarks, Aghili stated that, in the event of a direct confrontation, Iranian
forces would be capable of turning the Middle East into "a graveyard for
American troops," a message interpreted as a sign of the escalating
tensions between the two nations.
