Law enforcement has detained an individual identified as a
suspect in an incident linked to Brown University, according to reports from
national media outlets in the United States.
According to NBC, the detainee has been identified as
24-year-old Benjamin Erickson, born in 2001. The Washington Post reported that
Erickson may have a history of potentially extensive mental health issues, as
well as a possible prior connection to Brown University, although these details
have not yet been officially confirmed.
Reports indicate that the suspect drove from Wisconsin to
Providence, Rhode Island, the day before his arrest. He was stopped by
authorities several miles from the university campus, before any major incident
occurred on the premises.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and have not
yet released definitive information regarding charges, the reason for his
travel, or the extent of any threat. The case remains under investigation.
