Democratic Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett faced questions
about her past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein and offered an explanation
considered absurd regarding the reason for those communications, according to
statements recently released.
Plaskett maintained that, at the time, she believed Epstein
could provide her with relevant information. “I believed Jeffrey Epstein had
information, and I was going to get it to get to the truth…” she stated during
the interview.
In response to this statement, CNN pointed out that Epstein
was already a registered sex offender at the time. Plaskett responded by
downplaying the seriousness of his record, saying, “There are a lot of people
who have committed a lot of crimes…” a comment that generated mixed reactions
on social media and in political circles.
So far, the congresswoman has not offered further details
about the type of information she was seeking or the specific context of those
communications. It has also not been indicated whether there will be any
internal review or investigation into the matter.
