In Poland, two men in their 60s were hospitalized after a
World War II artillery shell exploded, which one of them had accidentally found
in a forest and subsequently brought to his home.
According to local media reports, the device—which had been
buried for more than eight decades—exploded while the men were handling it,
causing serious injuries and property damage to the home. Authorities reported
that both victims were rushed to the hospital, where they received treatment
for injuries caused by the blast and shrapnel.
Bomb disposal teams and police officers arrived at the scene
to secure the area and determine the exact cause of the incident. Experts
emphasized that the remnants of war still present in Eastern Europe pose a
serious danger, as many projectiles and mines remain active and can detonate
even after decades underground.
Local authorities reiterated their call to the public to
avoid touching any suspicious or military material and immediately notify the
police or military to prevent tragedies like the one that occurred.
