Blockades on various highways across the country continue after farmers and federal authorities failed to reach an agreement during the most recent negotiations. Producers from various regions are blocking vehicle traffic on several key highways as a means of pressuring the government to address their demands.

Among the agricultural sector's main demands are the establishment of fair prices for their crops, expanded financial support, a review of public policies related to the agricultural sector, and effective access to productive credit. Protesters are also demanding greater security guarantees, as many farmers say they are constant victims of extortion and threats from organized crime.

The situation has caused significant disruptions to transportation and commuters. Hundreds of motorists were stranded on October 27, 2025, on the Morelia-Guadalajara highway, one of the roads most affected by the protests.

Farmworkers have warned that they will maintain highway closures until their demands are met and a dialogue is established that yields concrete results. In the meantime, authorities urge drivers to seek alternate routes and stay informed about road conditions.
