Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman criticized
certain sectors of the media, accusing them of using sexist language in their
coverage of immigration issues. During his remarks, he defended his stance in
favor of strengthening border security and supporting the deportation of people
with criminal records, emphasizing that these positions should not be confined
to partisan stereotypes.
“I am a Democrat,” he stated, while reiterating his support
for measures to secure the border and expel those who have committed crimes. In
that context, he criticized some commentators for using derogatory terms to
refer to public figures, citing as an example the nickname “ICE Barbie” given
to Kristi Noem in relation to her role in immigration matters.
Fetterman argued that political debate should focus on
public policy, not personal attacks or labels based on appearance or gender. “I
refuse to use sexist terms,” she emphasized, maintaining that the exchange of
ideas, even on controversial issues like immigration, must remain respectful.
Her statements reflect tensions both within her own party
and in the media landscape, where the immigration debate continues to be one of
the most polarizing issues in American politics.
