An individual identified as Tyler Maxon Avalos, 29, was
arrested by federal agents after being accused of offering a $45,000 reward for
the life of US Attorney General Pam Bondi, according to authorities
from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
According to the official report, Avalos—who has a criminal
record for crimes related to violence and public disorder—was arrested on
October 16 after an anonymous informant alerted the FBI about a post on the
social media platform TikTok. The video, released earlier this month, showed an
image of Bondi with a red dot sight on her forehead, accompanied by text that
read:
“WANTED: Pam Bondi / REWARD: $45,000 / DEAD OR ALIVE
(PREFERABLY DEAD).”
The content was quickly removed from the platform, but not
before being reported by several users, allowing authorities to track the
account and link it directly to Avalos. According to the preliminary
investigation, the detainee describes himself as an anarchist and had expressed
his disapproval of conservative political figures and representatives of the US
judicial system in previous posts.
Federal sources indicated that the detainee faces charges of
interstate threats, incitement of violence, and misuse of electronic media to
promote a crime, charges that could carry a sentence of up to 20 years in
prison if convicted.
Pam Bondi, who served as Florida's attorney general from
2011 to 2019 and currently participates in political analysis, was not injured
or in direct danger, but has received additional protection from the Secret Service
and local police after the threat became known.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities have
not ruled out the involvement of others involved in spreading the message.
