Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi offered clichés and a
healthy dose of hypocrisy about the current leadership of the Democratic and
Republican Parties, respectively, during a Saturday appearance on PBS,
alongside NewsHour co-host and co-editor-in-chief Geoff Bennett, from the
Reframe Festival in San Francisco.
“The budget that the president put forward and that we are
reviewing now is a real disgrace,” Pelosi said, taking a swipe at President
Donald Trump.
“A budget should be a statement of our national values. What
is important to us as a nation should be reflected in that budget. It should be
a budget to invest in our future, our children's future, and each other's
future. And if you look at the budget the president put forward, we see that it
cuts education. Nothing brings more money into the Treasury than the education
of the American people. Early childhood education, K-12 education, higher
education, graduate school, continuing education for our workers,” Pelosi
continued.
